City Compost Site

The West Concord Compost Site is opening on April 13th for the season.
 
Hours are 8:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
 
Those requesting admittance to the compost site must possess a West Concord permit and abide by compost site restrictions.
 
The 2023 Permit applications are available at City Hall or can be downloaded at the Permits & Licensing page.
 
The permit fee for a City resident is $10.00 and $25.00 for businesses that perform services for the City of West Concord.
  • Proof of providing service to City residents will be required each time when utilizing the compost site.
  • Only materials collected within the City will be accepted at the compost site.
  • Permits must be affixed to the windshield of the vehicle registered in the application.

 

List of Items Allowed:

  • tree branches less than three (3) inches in diameter and less than five 5 feet in length
  • leaves
  • brush
  • natural trees used as Christmas trees
  • garden waste, flowers, etc.
 

All materials deposited are to be removed from any containers (boxes, bags, drums, etc.) and such containers are to be removed from the brush site.

List of Items Not Allowed.

    • Newsprint, paper, plastic, glass, metal, aluminum, or other recyclable materials.
    • Materials which are inherently dangerous
    • Garbage
    • Industrial waste
    • Tires
    • Chemicals
    • Ammunition or explosives
    • Corrosive acids or alkalis
    • Sewage treatment wastes
    • Ashes, incinerator ash, or incinerator residue
    • Toxic or hazardous wastes including, but not limited to, poisons, pesticides, herbicides, acids, caustics, pathological wastes, radioactive materials, flammable or explosive materials and similar harmful chemicals and wastes which require special handling and must be disposed of in a manner to conserve the environment and protect the public health and safety.
    • Inorganic refuse in a liquid or semi-liquid state, such as sludge from automobile wash racks, mud, water from laundry and paint sludge.
Penalty 
Misuse or dumping of inorganic refuse without authorization shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine.
