The West Concord Fire Department is trained and deployed as SKYWARN Storm Spotters.
The Dodge County Emergency Management Director will monitor current and predicted weather for potential severe storms. This weather information will be gathered from the National Weather Services offices of Lacrosse and Chanhassen as well as surrounding county's Emergency Management Officials.
Based on current weather conditions, forecasts, and the probability of severe weather, The Emergency Management Director or the Sheriff’s Department will deploy Storm Spotters. This deployment may also be at the request of the National Weather Service.
Primary focus of the storm spotter deployment will be the protection of life and property. This will be done by early deployment of storm spotters and effective communications between them and Dodge County's Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Thus providing our communities the most advance notice of impending severe weather possible.
